City of David

Canaanite tunnel that goes back, oh, about 3400 years

King David was here! Ancient Biblical and present-day political – this site is always exciting, always changing. You walk the streets here and can easily visualize David spotting a comely Bathsheba, the coronation of King Solomon, Hezekiah shoring up the city’s defenses, Jeremiah railing against the  misguided political alliances of that ultimate stooge, King Zedekiah. Not to mention the toilet seat that revealed to an inquisitive archaeologist what residents of the besieged city were eating back in the summer of 586 BCE.
